- 解釈：歴史的には、日本仏教は、国家体制（朝廷・幕府）を補完する形で存続してきた。例えば、仏教寺院は、疫病の治癒や貧困の解消、被為政者たちの不満や不安などの受け皿、戸籍の管理などに重用された。この傾向は、現在でも引き続いている。それは、国家としての「表舞台の役者」ではなく、「裏舞台の主役」として活躍している。

- Interpretation：Historically, the Japanese Buddhism has complemented national polity (Imperial Court and the Shogunate). For example a Buddhist temple was favored by "healing of a plague", "poor cancellation", "national dissatisfaction and the capacity of the anxiety (claim handling)" and "management on a family census register" etc. with responsible post. This tendency lasts now. There is not it in "the actors of the front stage" as the nation, and plays a role as "the leading role of the back stage".

即ち、「出家僧」としての理想境を夢見ながら、この世の「世俗的なこと＝政治や立身出世、喜怒哀楽など」を回避してきた。したがって、日本仏教の教徒は、自分達の「生活基盤」を保障してくれる政治体制であれば、どのような思想哲学で統治されようとも関心は無いのであろう。「国」は必要ではなく、ただ「安楽な生活」を望むだけなのであろうか。 In other words, it evaded "worldliness = politics and success in life, feelings" of the world while dreaming of the ideal boundary as "a priest monk". Therefore when it's the political system which secures its "livelihood", by whatever kind of thought philosophy it'll be governed, a follower of the Japanese Buddhism will have no interest. They don't need "country", and do they just wish for "comfortable life"?
